RAINBOW STORY HUB FOUNDATION is looking for stories or videos that share the beginnings of 10 of Edmonton’s original 2SLGBTQ+ organizations that were the foundations of transformative change and acceptance in our community.
Rainbow Story Hub shares the history of the Greater Edmonton 2SLGBTQ+ community primarily in Oral History styles. We also showcase our communities history in photographic collections donated to our online library gallery and through sharing collections, stories, podcasts and other media from other online resources.
What We Are Looking For:
Written stories illustrated with pictures and/or graphic illustrations such as posters
Podcast style or documentary style videos
Done in the style of oral histories using your own voice or words to tell how an organization you were associated with began or telling the story using interviews, words and documents from those associated with an organization on their behalf.
How Submissions Will Be Used:
Written stories will be published as a blog post on our website
Videos will be published to our YouTube Channel and added embedded to a blog post on our website
All new submissions will be featured in social media posts on Facebook, Instagram and other platforms.
Some submissions may be featured by our partners in Queer History locally and internationally through links, social media posts and more.
What We Are Offering:
Each published story will be offered a $250.00 honorarium
Editorial and research assistance from our queer historians.

Submissions accepted from October 12, 2023 to May 31, 2024
or as long as funding is available.
Only 10 Submissions will be approved for the honorarium though all will be considered for publishing.

This must be done prior to submitting your story so you will be registered to be considered for the honorarium.
(Examples of groups could be Making Waves, Curling with Pride, Womonspace, campus groups, church groups, etc)

Rainbow Story Hub brings the history of Edmonton's 2SLGBTQ+ community to life from the perspective of those who lived it. Through stories, videos and other media we hope to capture and preserve these stories from the people who lived them. These stories can then be used to inform, educate and enlighten not only our own community through GSA’s and hopefully one day school curriculum but also the greater community we live in today.
