This is a collection of street interviews, or streeters, that were done by the Adamant Eve team at the Edmonton Pride Parade, June 15th, 2003. While these were done to be cut and used in a show, they are presented in their original recorded formats, in order to better showcase the parade environment. They were recorded with a portable MiniDisc recorder.

Adamant Eve was a feminist news show, which frequently covered queer topics due to the natural overlap. The hosts, Anna, Kelly, and Rochelle, ask attendees about topics of the day, like the significance of Pride to them, the use of the world queer and if queer culture is just about sexuality, and the legalization of gay marriage and Ralph Kline’s motion to use the Notwithstanding Clause to block it. They also talk about their experiences and what they see at the parade. All-in-all, these clips provide a small glimpse into the culture and climate of the time.

Some of the attendees spoken to include, but are not limited to: a woman who went topless to protest indecency laws preventing women from showing their nipples; Patty Milligan of Lola Canola Honey; Jocelyn Crocker, a health educator; members of the Aboriginal Two Spirit Working Group; members of Lambda Christian Community; and some Prism Bar float members.

Rainbow Story Hub thanks Iron Deadman, the Digital Archivist at CJSR, the University of Alberta campus radio station who, through the process of going through our old media, found several street interviews done by one of their news programs from the 2003 Edmonton Pride Parade.

They reached out to us to see if we were interested in featuring these audio files on our website. We have put together 14 interviews into one media file which is now on our YouTube channel. You can listen to the raw audio files at the link below.

We thank CJSR Radio for allowing us to feature these recordings from the 2003 Edmonton Pride Parade.

Please note that we have used the raw unedited audio files. There are 14 segments stitched together into one media file.
