Queer History Month 2025 marks a special milestone for Rainbow Story Hub as we celebrate five remarkable community leaders who have shaped the 2SLGBTQIA+ movement over the past 55 years.
With generous support from the 47th Reign of the Imperial Sovereign Court of the Wild Rose, we honour the profound contributions of these leaders—not only to Alberta’s longest-running 2SLGBTQIA+ organization, but also to the broader community they continue to cherish and serve.
Each story is shared through video, featuring these remarkable leaders in their own words, enriched by historic images that highlight their journeys and legacies.

World Premiere of “Hey Pansy”
Join Stardust Players and Rainbow Story Hub at the Metro Cinema for the world premiere of Hey Pansy, a bold and timely new documentary that dives into one of today’s most urgent cultural debates!
Set in Edmonton, the film follows fictional journalist Pam Flap as she investigates the rise of anti-trans and anti-drag rhetoric across the prairies. Through candid conversations with conservative protesters, educators, community members, academics, and drag performers, Pam asks one central—and provocative—question: Are drag queens dangerous? Balancing humour with compassion, Hey Pansy offers a sharp, heartfelt exploration of inclusion, identity, and belonging at a moment when these conversations are more vital than ever.
Following the screening, stick around for a special Q&A with panelists featured in the film, hosted by guest moderator Kyler Chittick, a Ph.D. Candidate in the Department of Political Science at the University of Alberta and Co-Director of Rainbow Story Hub.
Produced by Stardust Players with support from Telus StoryHive, the Screen Institute of Canada, and the Alberta Film Commission.

This film is being screened by Metro Cinema as part of their Home Grown Cinema Series

Rainbow Story Hub
Rainbow Story Hub brings the history of Edmonton's 2SLGBTQ+ community to life from the perspective of those who lived it. Through stories, videos and other media we hope to capture and preserve these stories from the people who lived them. These stories can then be used to inform, educate and enlighten not only our own community through GSA’s and hopefully one day school curriculum but also the greater community we live in today.
